Unit 4 - What's that Portion?
This unit focuses on understanding, comparing, and solving problems with fractions and percents. Students will work on comparing and ordering fractions as well as move into adding, subtracting, and even multiplying and dividing a fraction by a whole number, and fraction by another fraction. In the next unit, students will add in decimals and see the relationship between fractions, percents, and decimals.
Unit Essential Question:
How can we use a variety of representations for fractions and percents to solve problems?
Lesson Essential Questions:
Vocabulary:
fraction, decimal, percent, equivalent, numerator, denominator, simplest form/lowest terms, benchmark fractions, like denominators, unlike denominators, repeated addition, number line, array, fraction bar
